Summer Programs
Our summer associate programs have been the firm’s major source for entry level associates for all of our offices. We are very proud of the sustained success of our summer program and are dedicated to doing everything necessary to insure our continued success.
Lord, Bissell & Brook's 2004 Summer Program was distinguished as the highest-ranking program out of 22 in Chicago and 3rd highest out of 159 firms nationally by the Annual American Lawyer Summer Associates Survey.
In 2005 we ranked 5 out of 25 in Chicago. Please visit American Lawyer Student Edition to view the 2005 local and national rankings.
We take pride in not over hiring for our summer program. It is our policy to hire summer associates based on the projected needs in each office for full time associates in the near future. In 2005, in our Chicago office, fifteen of seventeen second year students received offers. In Atlanta, all three second year students received offers and the two first year students were invited to return to the firm for a second summer. In Los Angeles, both summer associates received offers. In New York there was one second year summer associate and she received an offer.
Our Summer Associate classes of 2005 and 2006 are composed of students from many law schools including Boston College, Chicago, DePaul, Florida, Fordham, Georgia, Georgia State, Georgetown, Illinois, Iowa, Indiana - Indianapolis, Loyola -LA, Michigan, Minnesota, New York Law School, Northwestern, Pepperdine, St. Louis, Tulane, UCLA, Virginia, Washington University William & Mary and Wisconsin.
Summer associates perform essentially the same type of work as our first year associates. They interact with the partners and associates in practice areas of the students’ choice, participate in extensive training programs and pro bono activities and generally discover what it will be like to practice law at a large firm. They are also given the opportunity to get to know LB&B attorneys better through the firm’s social events which take place throughout the summer.
