Susan Jordan practices in the firm’s Litigation Department and is a member of the firm’s Reinsurance and Class Actions practice groups. Susan’s areas of expertise are reinsurance, insurance insolvency and insurance regulatory matters relating to insolvency and reinsurance. She has extensive experience in both general and reinsurance litigation and arbitration matters, including several major class actions in both federal and state courts.
In her reinsurance arbitration and litigation practice, Susan has represented both cedent and reinsurer clients in disputes over claim and underwriting issues. Susan’s clients have included both U.S-based and London Market reinsurers. Susan has also successfully litigated disputes under the Federal Arbitration Act over the arbitrability of claims, the appointment of arbitrators and the scope of federal jurisdiction under the Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards.
In her insurance insolvency practice, Susan has advised reinsurers with regard to claims by liquidators and receivers of insolvent insurers. Susan has represented reinsurers in the Transit Casualty Company liquidation proceedings in state court in Missouri and is currently representing reinsurers in the Pine Top Insurance Company liquidation proceedings in the Cook County, Illinois Circuit Court.
Susan has spoken at various seminars and conferences about reinsurance and insurance insolvency issues and has written about the Class Action Fairness Act of 2005 and Reinsurance Audits.
