Dean Conlin has more than 30 years of experience in a wide range of insurance regulatory and corporate matters for domestic and alien insurers and reinsurers.  Dean has organized insurers and reinsurers and counsels them on a full range of regulatory and corporate issues.  In this connection, Dean leads our firm’s longstanding representation of Old Republic International Corporation and American Fuji Fire and Marine Insurance Company.  He also counsels Lloyd’s Illinois, Inc., which is the corporate Illinois Attorney-in-Fact for Underwriters at Lloyd’s, London.

Dean advises insurance producers and third-party administrators on structuring their business.  In addition, he has been involved in insurance product development, has drafted policies, and was involved in the design and implementation of a highly successful liability program.

Extensively involved with alternative risk vehicles including risk retention groups, captives, intergovernmental cooperatives, group self-insurance funds, and multi-employer pools, Dean organized a highly successful risk retention group and serves as the outside general counsel for several intergovernmental cooperatives providing property/casualty, workers’ compensation and medical coverages.

Nonprofit

Dean also advises major associations and not-for-profit groups regarding insurance programs for their membership.

Health Care

In addition, Dean has focused on managed health care since the early stages of preferred provider networks.  His clients include regulated insurers and alternative risk vehicles that provide managed health care coverage.  His work for these clients, including preferred provider organizations, has ranged from product development to regulatory counseling, including counseling on the impact of ERISA on managed health care.
